Statement by Miyu Kurihara

In this exhibition, we produced works inspired by “Qingbai ware”, a type of Chinese porcelain produced under the Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty. Miyu Kurihara used carving techniques to decorate on miniature pottery wheel thrown by Yuta Segawa. This is our first attempt at using this technique, and we produced works while studying the best combination of body thickness, depth of carving of decoration and glaze. Therefore, this exhibition includes works that are still in the exploratory stage, and the prices are also made depending on the quality of finished products. Although we aim to continue studying this techniques in the future to make higher quality of works, we appreciate you enjoy our first collection of Carving pottery.
